Taking away some objects or numbers from a group is called subtraction.
The number from which we subtract is called the minuend.
The number which is subtracted is called the subtrahend.
The result of subtraction is called the difference.
We can subtract numbers by splitting them into ones, tens, hundreds, etc and arranging
them into columns.
